Would a mobile app to track important dates and download CRO documents be useful at all?

Hi

Non-accountant (software developer here). I asked a similar question earlier on on this forum and got a few helpful answers , This is a related yet different question.

I'm investigating if porting my FastUKCompanySearch mobile app to an Irish version would have any value for the Irish market. This means that that on their iPhone/Android devices people could

1- Add 'favourite' companies in bulk and view upcoming ARD Dates and

2- Get alerts for ARD(perhaps VAT dates too)

2- View and download CRO documents

My UK version does all of this for Companies House (except for VAT bit) and has a decently sized user base.

I am aware existing accountancy practice solution offer this functionality but as with the UK version, there is possibly a niche market where accountants/finance professionals prefer to have this information on their iPhone/Samsung devices.

Of course I could just 'build' it and see if it works but even the repurposing of the existing app is a non-trivial amount of work and I was hoping that the members on this forum could help me understand if there is a genuine need for this before I start.

Irish CRO documents aren't available for free like Companies House in the UK

Search4Less already do what you are offering for a subscription fee, I presume they pay a large fee to the CRO to allow them to do this, so you'd need to offer something they don't

Thanks for your reply. CRO offers a document download service too that the app could integrate with for people who prefer to use an app over the website. Would the due date tracking for ARDs be useful at all though?

Some CRO documents are free, some are paid. Free ones aren't that informative though, and are the basic information only.

Search4Less already do this as does most practice management software, I'm not sure if any of them have a mobile service or if the web page is any good on mobile, my initial feeling is that you wouldn't be offering something that the vast majority would want

Search4Less works really well on mobile - can't comment on any other provider.

In that case no gap in the market - thankfully the boss has never asked anything making me need to go on S4L that required me using the mobile browser!
