Problem installing HKC RF Heat

have put new HKC RF fire alarm devices on my securewave before without any problem before

Have just got a new HKC RF Heat which comprised an RF -module (HKC secure wave interface) and Fireangel Heat Alarm ( HT-630)

Believe I've followed the instructions to the letter but cannot get the device to connect to the secure wave panel or even get the heat alarm to 'activate'

Are there any shortcuts I am missing? When I called HKC they said they only support companies, not retail customers.

Where did you source the device from?

Reason I ask is Ireland and England have different RF range devices which wont work with the different panels

Electrical shop in bray, got a HKC wired PIR at the same time and that fitted easy

Is the device picked up when you scan for RF devices?

No it's not, I can get the leds on the RF module the light up but the alarm itself is dead. It is supposed to activate when in the ceiling clip plate, but doesn't

Must be an issue if you scan and its not been picked up.

Only after the system seeing the device can it be added to a zone.

Did you ever get a solution to this? I've set up a new alarm in my house, all 18 devices set up no issues bar the RF Heat, tried multiple times and the panel can't find it.

Hey - no , absolutely no joy in fixing it. Have tried to install now about 20 times and it never recognises. I've added the standard RF Heats before with absolutely no problem. The one appears to be an HKC RF module paired with a heat angel detector.

Spent about 30mins on the phone with @altor ( thanks Dave!) and we could not figure it out. Dave's conclusion was that the RF module is not working correctly. Npot sure what to do, unit was €90 and HKC won't help me. Next stop is to try return it top wholesaler

Hey thanks for the reply. All my smokes the RF module was seperate and in bubble wrap but on my Heat it was plugged in. I'll do some digging tomorrow and see can I find out anything.

The module is faulty. Your entitled to a replacement part.

Agree with that - the RF module was I think in the alarm with a plastic piece in the battery contact , this needed to be removed.

When to the place I bought the RF heat from today and they have refused to give me a replacement - say its HKC policy to only work with PRSA reg'd installers. Not entirely sure where I stand now, but will contact HKC directly again FWIW
