Hi just wondered, can social Welfare contact your employer when applying for jobseekers? Or do they need to notify you first?

well if you are employed and have told them as such then they can contact your employer to verify how much you get paid etc to check your eligibility for jobseekers.

Moved to the State Benefits forum which might be a better fit.

    Local charter applies

I'm assuming you mean former employer if your claiming a Jobseekers payment 🤔 if so & it's a guess, they may, to clarify the reasons for your leaving that Job, this is the verify if you left your job as opposed to have been let go. There's a penalty of 9 weeks with regard to leaving a job voluntarily.

They send your last employer a form to complete so that it can be established the circumstances of your having ceased employment. They don’t have to tell you about this.
