CNN SD closing on 28th July 2023 - Sky/Freesat

I read a notification on the Sky Help forum today that CNN SD will close on Friday the 28th of July.

That means the CNN will be HD only on Satellite in the UK & Ireland from that date.

CNN HD is guaranteed to stay on the Sky EPG. However it was knocked off the Freesat EPG before the station was taken over by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Will it have plans to make a return to the Freesat EPG from this Friday or will it remain available in Non-Freesat Mode on 28.2e?

On the Sky EPG, CNN HD will move from 884 to 506 when the SD version closes.

That will only happen on Sky SD boxes, as CNN HD is already on 506 on Sky HD & Q boxes

That explains the tone and black screen I saw yesterday about 1155am and then the return of programming I saw at midday on a FTA box

Any advice. Parents can't find cnn since around this date on their satellite. Used to be on channel 6 apparently but now get this?

If they want to continue watching CNN, they need a HD box, as the SD version closed last month

If they already have a HD box, they need to add the HD version. The frequency is 11670 H 23000 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK

So it looks like they have no box at all just a cable from an old sky satellite. Might need an upgrade although they seem happy with most of it

They probably have a television with internal satellite tuner.

You'd know if you see two coaxial cables going into the TV: one for terrestrial aerial, one for satellite dish.

Yea that's what they have. Maybe time to get a new box for them

That TV almost certainly has a HD tuner if it's internal
