07 Fiesta sometimes won't respond to the accelerator

07 Fiesta. Sometimes if you slow down, like someone crosses in front and you slow to let them go by, the car does not respond to the accelerator when you go to speed up again. I would have changed down gear so not trying to go in too high a gear.

I find that by holding down the clutch and giving it a rev it then goes when put back into gear. What might this be.? Only happens now and then

You're probably in too high a gear.

Lots of things can cause hesitation

To work efficiently and engine needs, Air, Fuel, Compression and Ignition

If one of these is compromised you'll see some performance issues

Try checking the obvious ones first.

Are your spark plugs worn out

Are there any cracked or damaged hoses that could be causing pressure leaks

Is your air or fuel filter in need of replacement

Are your fuel injectors fouled up

After that, it could be faulty sensors, like throttle position sensors or oxygen sensors giving bad readings to the ECU, or it could be ignition coils or bad seals on one or more cylinders

Get someone with an OBD2 scanner yo check for any codes which could give you a clue about where the problem is
