Apologies if this isn't suitable for the Dev forum.
Looking to set up a new discussion website. Did something similar years ago with vBulletin (the original software used by Boards.ie I believe), but I found it severely lacking in terms of its mobile UX and at the time it had a ton of exploits. Afterwards people told me I should have used phpBB.
What's the current 'state of the art' in terms of this type of software? As I said, haven't really done anything like this in the last ten years and don't know the marketplace.

I believe https://xenforo.com is one of the new alternatives, It's used on a few forums I use.
It's developed by ex lead developers of vbulletin.

No, I'd originally purchased a licence.
Not sure about the product these days, but they don't have a great history with disclosing exploits...

From researching it today, I'd definitely use it over VB as VB seems to have a dying userbase. As I'm considering implementing both Android and iPhone apps, I'm still tempted to build bespoke. Much more expensive I know, but when you look at the device profile of something like facebook, it's scary how few people are now using traditional desktops to access it.

Eem, they're all fixed ? None of those are in the current version. 46 over the past 15 years is far from a "ton" and how many of them existed unpatched at the same time?
