    Apologies if this isn't suitable for the Dev forum.

    Looking to set up a new discussion website. Did something similar years ago with vBulletin (the original software used by Boards.ie I believe), but I found it severely lacking in terms of its mobile UX and at the time it had a ton of exploits. Afterwards people told me I should have used phpBB.

    What's the current 'state of the art' in terms of this type of software? As I said, haven't really done anything like this in the last ten years and don't know the marketplace.
