The price of a pint of Guinness is going up by four cents in August, maker Diageo has confirmed.

What is the cheapest and dearest prices you have seen in your area?

The wholesale cost is going up by 4c.

After the pubs add their margin, expect a 20c rise.

In my area, the current price is 5.00.

In Galway city, I have paid from 5.20 to 7 in the G hotel.

Most likely 10c by pubs.

Some of the biggest pubs should be able to absorb it, but small pubs that operate on very tight budgets will probably have to increase prices.

Considering Diageo have huge profits, it's simply not warranted and is very much about increasing Diageo profits than anything else

Diageo's sole job is to make profits and return these to it's shareholders.

It's up to people to pay the price they charge or not. If people don't buy Diageo's products they'll know they made a mistake, as people will continue to buy Diageo products they will not have made a mistake.

And it's the job of this forum to call out a greed/rip off. Diageo has admitted in its financial statement that it negated all inflationary pressures and increased profits through its price hikes. This is greedflation.

Footfall in pubs and sales is down. Due to the gouging going on. The only way for diageo and pubs to maintain massive profits is to raise the prices and hit the people who are willing to pay harder.

There will be a tipping point soon. Pubs will be fairly empty most nights this winter. Jan and feb are poor months anyway but im willing to bet the pubs will be like morgues soon.
