hand 4 hens from last year laying ok, theyre about 50 weeks and bought 6 more about 70 weeks in February last and they never laid and the others quit too and not a egg since then. Theyre being fed good quality feed etc but feels like a total waste

Why would they need be laying

Are these rescued birds/Ex commercial layers? Are they roaming? Are they laying somewhere else and you're not finding them? Birds/rats or dogs taking them?

Check for mites, just recently my girls stopped laying and it was because of mite infestation in the coop.
