Playing Open Comps as GUI Member

Hi,

My membership on my current course is due to expire shortly and due to family reasons I am not going to get to play often for the next 6 months.

Instead of renewing and spending the money without getting to play regularly, can I use my GUI number to play open comps maybe once a month or so in other courses in my area if I do not hold a current course membership?

Guessing you are a member of Elmgreen or Corballis as these are the rolling memberships I know

I think they simple answer is yes as the Golf Ireland membership is annual and you paid for the year so you should be good till Dec 31st

so hows does that work? I join june 2023, its my golf ireland membership not from that point to june 2024? They take the GUI sub out in one go, its not pro rated

Golf Ireland fees are generally paid a year in arrears by most clubs

No. You are no longer a member of a club so not entitled to the privileges that entails. The club will remove you from their database and your card will no longer be valid.

A pay & play membership might be a low cost solution for you. The nearest pay & play course to me has a base membership fee of €200 (€120 for seniors) and pay a reduced green fee anytime you play. But you'll have your Golf ireland membership within that giving you the option of playing open comps.

There's also flexy golf, but i'm not 100% if that took off.
