    and how's it going?

i'm having the worst year for distance on the bike i've had in years; only about 1,500km done. time/weather/general excuses have kept me off the bike, and i lost six weeks without a spin recently due to a weird bug i couldn't shift. i'd have wanted double that distance by now.

I just passed 6,000kms this morning with almost 44,000 m of climbing. No plans really but still following the idea I set a few years back of 1000km per month with about 6000m so I'm kinda aligned with it I guess.

Like yourself, I've had a fair bit of unwanted downtime mainly due to gout making me wonder whether I should cut off my right foot!

Based on last year I should be at about 5k kms , had a very bad start of year, at one stage I was about 1000kms behind but I'm clawing some back, will be close yo 4,500 km by 30th June. Happy enough

7,286klm… on target for 14,500 for the year. happy with that.

    8,060kms done with a target of 15,000km.

All performance related goals complete but still a chunky old masters racer.

All in a great year to date.

hoping to get 10k at least.

Was doing pretty well at nearly 6k but an accident means I've done 100k in the last 3 weeks :(

Frustrating year so far for me. 4,800km and 43,000m climbing done but struggling with a niggling hamstring and lower back issue which has held me back.

Goal was to race A4 but between the injury and the time commitment required with small kids, it just hasn't happened. Window closing as I hit 43 next month.

On a positive note, I've dropped 4kg from 90 to 86kg and have been taking chunks off all my PBs on the hills. I also put out 365w for a 20 minute test on mostly flat roads two weeks ago which suggests the legs are good away from the injuries.

However, for the last 6 weeks it's been about managing the body rather than making progress as I haven't really been able to do much decent training and don't trust myself to do any events with the injury.

Managed 30k of a planned 120km spin this morning before having to turn around with a sore hamstring. Frustrating.

Have a look at doing pilates, I wish i discovered it 30 years ago, talk to a physio about it, will be astonished if it doesn't help you.

Reached 9,000kms today with 69,000m elevation. I had hoped to reach 10k by the end of June but that's not going to happen now.

Just over 6000km done, mix of indoors (not splitting them out, just looking at strava), commutes, racing and spins. I wasn't really focused on distance though.

Didn't enter the season at race weight, still not at race weight. Too much relaxation at weekends, and having to fuel races doesn't really help (compared to club spins).

Club open race was one of my goals, but was spat out the back early (although not entirely my fault, still a disappointment). DNF RVV after a blowout. Getting around following promotion in vets at least. So all eyes on Raid Alpine to save my performance goal season!

7300km and 52700m done, more than at this stage of any year I've done before, but my 2 main targets of the year are done, Wild Mayo Ultra 300 and Mondello24 are done so the pace will probably drop off now.

Might target one or two of the gravel events later in the year, I fancy going back to the Nephins after going through on the Ultra, though I hope it's not as windy.

A write off of a year, I fell on 4th April breaking 4 ribs in 10 places, broke collarbone and fractured skull.

It had all started too well, but I'll not be back in the saddle anytime soon.

But funnily enough, I've lost just over a stone without any exercise - odd that I'd been convincing myself that i was cycling to lose/maintain weight.

Even less here, Just 911k according to Strava and about another ~400k of commuting. In a new relationship which is truly fab but cycling has taken a back seat. Also moving to Italy for a year at the end of the Summer so time has been spent trying to learn the language and get organised.

About 7,500km done but thats only part of the story!

Joined the vets this year and had a good start with 2 road and 2 TT wins, won the A2 Castlebar race and then into the Ras, unfortunately crashed out on stage 4 with bike also not fairing well :'( Got Covid in the days after and I've been struggling to get going again since. Took it easy for a while and other than a few vets and club league races ive done zero intensity but got a slight sickness again last week. Seems to be recovered now but form gone! Pity as I hoped to peak again in August and time running out now, power waaaaay down but hopefully body lets me start pushing it again over the next week or two as otherwise itll be season over.

Granted some far worse stories above!! Hope all those injured heal well!

    Hadn't bot

Yeah. When you stop cycling it's nearly easier control the hunger and the diet!!

I hadn't bothered to look at metres climbed because my cycling has changed so much from long mountain spins to flat racing but it seems I've still managed to rack up nearly 60,000m since 1st Jan. A week in Calpe contributed hugely to that total.

Up until disaster struck I was delighted with my season. Couple of race wins and enjoying the process and progress. Dunno about the second half now. I'll be way off the pace if and when I strap a number on again. I am keen to get back pedalling but I'm not too fussed about the racing yet, I had a good run.

Lost my Dad at the end of March, one of the last chats we had included the topic of cycling and how he hoped I'd get back to it (looking back now I know he meant, when he was gone), I put on a lot of weight and lost a lot of fitness when he was ill, due to the stress of knowing he was dying and there being nothing I could do about it and still trying/wanting to help.

So my year started in May with the purchase of an ebike, which has been used to cover around 450km since that (mostly commuting when not working remotely), its done me the world of good while I've tried to process everything, wouldn't be without it now, even when I was soaked to the bone this morning. Fitness is slowly coming back but I'm in no rush, its not about that for me at this point.

One of the worst winters I've ever had with illness. There was a while in January when I thought I'd never be right. I was brutal at the start of the season but have managed to turn it around. Have done 18 races between our club league and the Vets (usually aim to do around 30 every year). Placed in four. Happy with that considering I didn't have a leg in April.

In terms of distance it's been a mediocre year. 4,434km so far. Might get to 10 by the end of the year which is a long way down from previous years. Trying to get in a few more endurance spins but racing seems to have killed my long distance legs.

Lot's of Vets Racing with a few Club League Races. Picking up points but an actual win eludes me. Hitting a motivational slump right now

    8000km distance

    42000m climbing

Going well. Lots of targets met for the year. Few more written down for the next 2 monthd

Not bad so far. This is something of a getting back to cycling year for me.

Got sick a few years back, then COVID followed by general lack of interest left me at 5/4000 per annum for the last few years - well down on the previous 8/10000. Trying for 6500 this year and am at 3500 so far. I managed to (eventually) get up the Stelvio recently andwas well pleased with that.

So pretty much on track - working from home has dropped my commute by around 3,000 per annum so I'd be surprised if I ever get back to 10000 per annum. Maybe when I retire in the next few years.

Just over 3100km and nearly 37k of climbing, Happy enough with that. I don't race, and have managed a few of my targets for the year - Tour of Conemara, WAAR, doing L'Etape next week, and Kildare/Reservoir Dog after that. The lack of commuting cut out a lot of my distance, did over 10000 kms one year but this was heavily buffeted by doing 80k a week in and out to work. Now I just log on earlier/log off later from home, and lazily only go for spins at the weekend or summer evenings! Find i end up just going for runs in the winter when its cold/dark, so the cycling falls off a cliff.

Knees been hurting more recently. Had an MRI and ended up been I have a chronic ACL tear. That would explain all those years of knee instability then. Must book an appointment with a specialist when I get back .

my very poor year on the bike is not improving. came down with covid nearly six weeks ago, and was yesterday diagnosed with a lingering chest infection.

i'd been out on the bike a few times in the last few weeks, nothing more than 30km, but my body punished me afterwards. now i know why.

Very little cycling happening for me so far but planning on getting the bike shipped to the new place over the next couple of weeks so things will hopefully improve.
