Well Wanda's gonna be confused if she travels to that world.

So was it a radioactive lion?

    That guys nose!!! 😨

Well, that's a change up in the feel of the Universe. Less comedic feeling that Venom.

Could see Aaron Taylor-Johnson just bursting for a role like this during Bullet Train.

"Sony Marvel Universe" sounds so lame; just admit all you have are the Spidey villains Sony, stop trying to look so big and expansive. Still chuckle when i think on their attempt to "capitalise" on what they believed was social-media goodwill for Morbius, with that re-release.

Russell Crowe truly indulging in some prime ham these days. "Can I do an accent?" appears to be his primary question when shopping for new roles ATM? Movie itself looks deeply whatever; suppose were this the late 90s a standalone film of this ilk might seem interesting?

I'm holding out for the spin-off film for alpha Spidey villain, Kite-Man 😂

Yeah, Kraven was definitely third on my list of "Spider-Man villains who if they got their own movie where they're shoe-horned into being an 'anti-hero', I still wouldn't care"

Crazy that even a few years ago before Into the Spiderverse, they could have decided to do a live-action Miles Morales Spider-Man film, and instead went "Nah.... how about Jared Leto as Morbius instead?"

    *Push glasses up*

Actually, Kite-Man is DC. Appears on in the Harley Quinn animated series. Hell Yeah. 😛

So will we get to see Kraven's friend, Squirrel Girl, though Sony don't have the rights to her.

Shoot, oh yeah you're right. Who am I thinking of them? Hmmm ok, then let's say ... Big Wheel instead 😂

Jesus, that trailer really gives too much away, it even looks like it shows a bit of an after credits scene haha, wtf..

I was excited when i heard they were working on a Kraven movie, but it looks like they pussied out and made him more of a good guy/hero 🤮😭

Is Aaron also in the running for James Bond?

    Release now pushed till December.

Sony believe it is so good people will go back and see it over and over on the Christmas hoildays.

Kraven moved to Christmas because we’re excited about it and Christmas is the best release period there is, when you get people with time to go back to the movies over and over again. That was a real reflection of how the studio felt about the movie. We’re really excited. But that’s a great move that reflects just the feeling about the movie.

its a good idea to avoid the new Alien Movie, The Crow, New Transformers and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,831 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

This is the same studio that rereleased Morbius because they thought people wanted to see it again.

I do have some small hope for this one alright though - a far more interesting standalone character than the likes of Morbius, solid cast, and there's much better pedigree behind the creative too. Chandor's a proper director - Margin Call, A Most Violent Year, and All Is Lost all properly decent to excellent movies. And some solid action writers on it too, including the lads who wrote the first iron man.

I wonder are they waiting for Johnson's likely Bond announcement

I hadn't registered more than Taylor-Johnson (who I haven't had cause to rate at all, in the couple of films of his that I've seen) and figured this for yet another Sony Spider-verse dud. But like you, I've highly rated J. C. Chandor's previous films, so I'll at least pay some attention to how this does.

Side note - I just found out that Taylor-Johnson is also involved in the current Robert Eggers Nosferatu project. Was not expecting that.

The first 8 minutes of this has been released.

It looks promising if a tad far fetched.

A few reports circulating that Sony's Spiderman Universe is essentially dead. No new films are in development.

Not in any way surprising. I mean the only obvious thing for them to do would be Miles Morales live action Spiderman films rather than all these "villains who we'll turn into anti-heroes who tease the sh*t out of possibly going up against Spiderman even though they never actually will" films. But yeah, looks like we'll never get Morbius 2: It's Morbin' Time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,452 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

    Thats hardly a surprise.

I loved Venom 1, despite the very obvious plot hole(s). Venom 2 which I was really looking forward to was terrible. I tried a rewatch recently in case it had healed with time but no.

Morbius I didnt watch. Was never a fan of that whole story arc to begin with. From what Ive read I didnt miss much.

Not an anti-hero but one movie I would love to see is a Scarlet Spider/Ben Reilly movie. Sony own the rights to him. Whether they have the creativity to pull it off is the next question.

Funnily enough in the comics Ben is kind of a villain now and goes by Chasm, you also have the other clone, Kaine who is more an anti hero and goes by Scarlet Spider.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,452 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

You got me really confused there for a minute. I have not followed the "new" releases. My Ben Reilly knowledge comes from the Clone Wars saga 1994-1996, where Ben is the Scarlet Spider, then takes over as Spider-man.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,374 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Yeah obviously alot has changed since then😁. You have 2 spider Men, (Peter, Miles), Spider Boy, Ghost Spider, Silk and even whole Spider Society made up of spider people from across the Spider verse (multiverse).

Yeah Ive lost track of all of that. To me, there is Peter, Miles and Ben Reilly.

I always hate when they dilute the original character like that. Makes them stop being unique

went to see it last night, you know it was what it was, it was ok, some of the characters seemed very limited like they had cut the movie down a lot in the edit. Some of the action scenes were ok. bit of popcorn, brain off for a bit..

Not engaging enough to care about. It undermines the career platform Johnson made for himself in the supporting role in bullet train.

Flopping big time taken less than 30m.

I watched it and it was...fine...I suppose...not outright horrendous (like Madame Web) or Morbius, but just very run of the mill, basic story, poor acting, pretty poor CGI at times, it felt cheap (odd given the budget was seemingly 110-130m) and like it had been edited/chopped about a lot. Disappointing considering JC Chandor directing.

    I did

burst out laughing when I saw Rhino I will admit!

I just saw this. It wasn't the worst comic book movie I have seen.

The chase involving the van and the helicopter was top notch.

I did like the eventual reveal of Rhino, although his legs needed to be a little larger, but still, I can appreciate the artistry behind it.

A Taylor-Johnson got into serious shape for this.

He would be class in a Spiderman movie, especially after those powers he displayed in the chase scene.
