Hi we moved into new house a year ago and noticed after six months marks coming up on tiles, circles all on the corners of each tile, I'm guessing it's some sort of tool used by tiler, is it possible for a tool like this to mark the tiles this bad or would it be a defect on tiles, Can these be fixed? These are porcelain tiles I assumed they would be pretty hard to mark, any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks. I could take a picture but they might not show very well

Picture would help but it's most likely a bad fitting job where the tiler just used dabs of adhesive in the corners instead of fully covering the back of the tiles with adhesive. If you tap the tile where the mark is and it sounds more solid than tapping where there is no mark you'll know for sure.

    really need a picture.

i cant see what tools a tiler could have used that would cause marks 6 months later/

my guess is that the grout has failed a bit and water is getting in and staining the tiles

You might not be able to see them from pictures, can this adhesive be removed? Thanks for reply

Jesus the chipped edges/uneven grout/off square joins on those would have my OCD going into overdrive... (Sorry OP) I'm an avid DIYer and I'd be ashamed to have laid those.

Anyway - to your question. Looks to me like these are scratches from the underside of tile above when boxed/packed. Probably turned and dragged when lifting each tile out of a box or when separating them.

I recently had to take up hall tiles to level a floor for new laminate and was appalled by the job done by the "professional" tiler. 7mm crown in the floor over 1.5metres and terrible layout of the pattern/borders overall.

The guy's in tile shop are saying they are from the round spacers/levelers they use, I just don't see how they can mark so easy

You shouldn't be able to see through a porcelain tile and if it is those round leveler's underneath the tiler didn't know how to use them looking at the lipping he left behind.

there are leveling clips that use round bits on the top. amazon do them but also either rubi or rumandi do them aswell.

either way they satre soft plastic so shiouldnt scratch

you could look at some kind of polishing compound to rempove it if its light.
