What a grid. Ferrari the quickest in qualifying what was to be expected. Toyota has the experience to endure the 24 hours and their drivers made fewer mistakes than the Ferrari ones during the season so main favorite. Still we have the Penske & Cadillac as dark horses in there. Peugeot lacking the speed, Glickenhaus & Vanwall as privateer entries.

Peugeot were 3 seconds quicker than Audi for practice and pole one year. Didn't matter in the end. The top 9 are within 3 seconds on a 14.5km circuit. That's close.

Great race , but the hypercars taking over the TV schedule. Rarely anything else than them on the screen.

Seem to be a lot of incidents, slow zones

If you have a VPN and don't mind German French can be watched too.

Rainchaos now, still 12 hypercars on the lead lap

Bedlam now, that Ferrari nearly wiped out two cars going off

Crazy acqua planning. Squirm at them sliding off.

Alex Brundle sounds just like his Dad.

Hadn't watched much of the build-up this year and Sky+'d the start of the race, thought Toyota would run away in the Hypercar class but doesn't seem the case. Half watching it at the moment so not sure how the stints are and if they're all out of sync & what not. Good race so far though (except all the safety cars, but not much that can be done about that)

Really like the look of the Peugeot with no wing, even if it is lacking downforce. Ferrari & Porsche hypercars look good too

Live timing is actually pretty good, especially if you select 'Expert' mode.

Big off and crash for the leading Porsche there. That car is goosed.

Not a bit of it, off and running again 10 or 15 mins later. All he had was cosmetic damage to snap on panels, lucky for him.

So long as the chassis is straight, it can be fixed. The only things that will end it are, being stranded in an unrecoverable location, no drive out on circuit, or fire. Pretty much everything else is replaceable, until you run out of spares.

Yeah the crash looked bad at first but it was just body panels. The car looked epic with no rear bodywork.

    Porsche 963 El Camino.

Parts of the track are getting some rain I think. I'm glued to this, might have to have a few coffees.

God Kristennsen is terrible on comms "Oh yoi yoi yoi" every 2 mins.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,813 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

That's just a speech affectation from his native Danish, relax.

He's a brilliant addition to comms, knows more about modern sportscar racing than pretty much anyone alive.

Well he hasn't said anything even remotely interesting/useful. Would expect some useful insight from him but alas we get "drivers arent driving for the conditions"

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,410 ✭✭✭Harika

That race will come down to the last hour. I hope I can sneak out of the kid's party. Lol

Very tricky conditions, plenty sliding off, seems most got away without too much damage

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,813 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

    You're talking nonsense now.

He's a colour commentator. The presenters deal with the facts and figures, Tom or Alex or Anthony or whoever deal with the occasion, the experience, the lessons.

If you don't find him interesting that's on you.

I love that Ferrari are streaming both onboards from their cars on youtube for this entire race.

Ferrari into the gravel and Toyota getting hit hard at the rear a lap or two later

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,813 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

That did for him, rotten bit of luck getting caught up in some elses drama, but #7 Toyota is done.

  • Registered Users Posts: 721 ✭✭✭tigerboon

After the first few races this year, nobody would have said Peugeot would be leading this 8 hours in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,028 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Pity to go out like that, seemed to be able to move a bit on battery power but not enough power to get back

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,813 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

    Especially Peugeot.

Just goes to show, many a Le Mans have been won by the tortoise over the hare, by simply keeping it on the road and pounding around.

Although this full safety car will have the Ferraris especially ready to pounce.

Bit presumptuous there. @LIGHTNING might know a thing or two about track-comms. 😂

It's a tricky one to follow when you're away from home. This might help as it's the official radio broadcast crew on-circuit (hit listen live):

This new safety car system is a disaster.
