Skill level really high, Clare first goal unreal.

Since minor went to U17 the unpredictability of minor teams performances has increased. Far from over but Galway not performing.

I'm a little disappointed in Galway so far. Heard great things about them and they've been hammering all their opponents to date. Clare full value for their lead though. Be nice to see them win only their 2nd All Ire minor title.

Nice to see Clare win a first since 1997.

I've seen most of Galway's games and they have been sensational. Niland and Rabitte great upfront. They haven't turned up. Now Clare have been a big part of that.

Clare hurling on a high at all levels.

Yea apart from Rabitte's goal he hasn't been in it. Niland so much hype about him but not performing today. Clare looking good.

Niland has been really good all championship. He got a point for the ages in the semi. They're all very young. Huge day for them.

I think it's a great idea to have both underage hurling finals on the same say as a double header. Looks like a big crowd too. Only the Town End terrace not open. Beautiful weather. Clare and Offaly starved of success against two of the heavy hitters. I'd say TG4 will get a big viewership today.

This could still end up like Tipp v Offaly last year. Some injury time, the heat etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,221 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Yea U17 so young. Most of these lads will never play in front of this big a crowd ever again. Must be nerve wracking.

Repeating myself but for 15-17 year olds this is a great standard.

Galway goalies letting in 2 shockers in successive weeks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭Jock_Ewing

For Galway they might get more out of this losing minor team than most of their winning teams.

Niland's touch is not there today.

Great result for clare..hopefully offaly can do the same in the next match now

Really shows it's all on the day at underage.

They don't have they know how and resilience to win, not playing well, like an experienced senior team. And the big day can get to them.

The narrative seemed to be that Galway would walk this, given they'd comfortably accounted for every other team they played. Lack of a close game seemed to come against them when Clare really stood up and took it to them. Hard to know too given the ages of the players, but some superb hurling throughout that one. Well done Clare.

I'm not sure many neutrals would have appreciated how good the Clare backs are. The best set of backs I've seen in an underage Clare team.

Niland met his match in Gunning.

The size of Cork captain Mullins legs and arms. Looks as strong as an ox. So many underage intercounty players today especially U20 are built like tanks due to many years strength and conditioning. Some shape all players are in.

Offaly danger man Screeney started on fire leaving his marker for dead three times already. Long day ahead for that Cork man.

Weak reffing in the u20 match. Cork number 3 and 9 should be in the book already for targeting screeney. Basically giving them licence to target him for the day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭Jock_Ewing

Offaly poor there should have been cleared

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭Jock_Ewing

    Red all day

Cork corner back should have been sent off in the first minute.

He essentially tried to decapitate Screeney when the ball went into that corner for the first time, the fact that he wasn't even booked is a disgrace.

    Screeney loves his steps !

  • Registered Users Posts: 899 ✭✭✭Ompala

Anyone else think Cork No. 3 should be off for 2 yellows already?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,982 ✭✭✭threeball

3 for Cork should be off for the shoulder to the head alone. Ref is piss poor.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭Jock_Ewing

    Mod Edit

    Warning issued.
