Rear wiper motor

    I have a Skoda Octavia mk3.

The rear wiper motor is gone.

    A new one is €200.

It's proving difficult to source one second hand.

I have the part number and have found several "after market" versions online that correspond to the part number.

But when I cross check the model they are not suitable.

Just wondering if anyone has ever rebuilt a rear wiper motor using donor parts from a " comparable" item?

Chances are most of the ones in breaker yards will be on the way out too.

If you’re worried about it passing the NCT, it’s not part of the test, just take the wiper arm off.

Who says the motor is gone ?

Opening and closing rear tailgate wires are known to break inside the wiring loom at the hinge as thats the first thing to check.

When I got the car washed the guy lifted the wiper. But turned it slightly.

For a while after it would stop halfway across the window.

You could get it going again by moving the wiper slightly.

However it has now given up the ghost.

The mechanic has advised that the motor is knackered and the cost of a new one is not worth it.I

Currently looking at scrap yards online but no luck sofar.

Hence the query as to whether it's possible to get a "similar" one and take the necessary parts.

    What's the Part No?

Part number is the part number, I’m guessing when you put your reg number in it thinks it’s a hatchback and not an estate or something.

Get one that corresponds with the part number and you’ll be fine.

Update, got one with the same part number.

Got mechanic to fit it and sorted now.
