    Hi All at Richersounds.

Long time ago I purchased Yamaha RX-A550 from you guys and am very happy with it.

I just got a new TV, TCL 55C735K and would like to get the sound from it back into the receiver.

First of all as the Yamaha does not support 120Hz refresh rate I would rather keep PS5 connected directly to the TV, but would like the sound to be sent to the receiver if that makes sense.

Clearly it is time to upgrade the receiver but in the meantime could you advise what I am doing wrong?

I have tried all cables and settings for ARC but nothing works. I would rather not go to get an optical cable to be honest unless you advise to.

As always thanks for the professional advice and hope You don't mind me asking here.

Whenever you get a chance to respond I would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Wonski,

Thanks for the post and apologies for the delay getting back to you.

What way have you got the cables connected? I'm sure you have it the right way round but the ARC port on the TV would need to be connected to the Yamaha amps ARC output. There may be a conflict if the PS5 is sending a Dolby Atmos signal and the Yamaha amp cant read it. You might have to change the sound output settings on the TV to PCM to downscale the output signal. If you set the Amp HDMI ARC setting to Auto it should then read the signal coming into it.

If you let me know how it's connected though I can see if I can get to the bottom of it for you.

    Kind regards

    David

    Thanks David.

I was just about to post that I solved this after a lot of googling and switching off and on...

All works fine now, thank you for taking your time to respond.

It was a bit temperamental, at some point the amp switched itself on after switching the console and tv on and works great since then haha.

I will probably be in touch in a month or two to upgrade and future proof a bit as the Yamaha is showing its age now.

    Thanks.

Glad to hear it's working for you again wonski!

Keep us posted when you're ready to upgrade and we'll get you sorted with a shiny new amp.

    Kind regards

    David
