    Hi there,

Light/trivial question here - any parents have any practical tips on teaching their child to kick a ball? Child (5) tends to 'snatch' and rush when kicking ball from hands, any practical ideas on how to help him along?

Practice tbh. Im coaching the nursery group of my local team so ages from about 4.5 up to 5.5 and most of them are unable to do it with any kind of regularity as the hand eye coordination is only developing. What I find works best is demonstrating. You stand with the ball held out in front of you, in a sort of 1/3 squat position and drop the ball to your foot. Let them practice that first of all. Once they get comfortable with that, get them to start bringing their foot towards the ball as its dropping. In the main its slow going and it can be very frustrating for the kids if they dont get it right away but genuinely, perseverance and practice are the two key things.
