What's your credit card limit?

I had a student credit card with a really low limit for the past few years. Never went overboard on it, always paid back on time, etc. I changed card and was given a limit about 25% above my monthly income, very few questions asked. I was surprised by it, but anyway, what are other people's limits?

Monthly income in comparison to limit isn't really the point, its disposable income as, in theory that's what would be used to pay it off

If somebody asked me what my credit limit was, I wouldn't have any problem telling them. If nobody wants to reply, nobody will.

Mine was set at double my gross monthly income when I got it, circa early Celtic Tiger years. If I remember during the application process the bank came up with the figure as a suggestion and I went with it, different times I suppose. I pay it off every month, never changed the limit since getting it.

€2k is mine. Never ever had less than credit in my account though, never owed.

over 10k had it maxed when I was self employed. paid off every month now thankfully!

Celtic Tiger stuff was insane, my mother has a letter upstairs she received off a bank in 2005 offering a preapproved, no questions asked loan of 30k. All she had to do was sign and send it back. Insanity!

not sure for regular folk, but my student one was fairly non-invasive as an application. I don't even think they asked me if I had a job?

Yes I remember getting a pre-approved loan for €15k in the post from a bank I didn't even have an account with 😁.

It's less risky to lend five people 5k than to lend one person 25k and the amount is being underwritten on top of that, so the person granting you the limit does not have much to loose.
