Have 2 quotes in for solar ,one for a 6.9kw 17 panel and 5kw solis inverter with 5.3 battery and the second with a 9kw 22 panel 6kw solid inverter with a 5kw battery.the two quotes are around the same price(16000) if you add 400 each for the extra panels .Which would be better for me in a 2 person working house with ground source heat pump

    thanks in advance

What brand inverter on the second quote? With Solis you can only oversize by 133%.

Solid hybrid inverter,(S5-EH1P6K-L-UN*1)is the number again it I think

    Is that a 6kw inverter?

Either 5kw or 6kw, 9kwp is too much anyway according to Solis.

It’s a 6kw inverter and what do you mean by it’s too much. That the panels could be making more power than the inverter can handle (new to this solar business)

There are a lot of factors but based on the info given, on average, it has to be the second option right, or am I stupid, over the winter months you will gain more during the day and during the summer, its much of a muchness. Will the 300W difference in battery be a thing, economically, I doubt it would amount to anything.

Having talked to a load of locals who have gotten solar and compared the work done, who has the better rep for roof work and follow up if there are issues. I had issues which turned out not to be solar related but the installer called out for no extra charge and acted like an electrician and gave us a list of what needed to be done, saved us a few 100. Checked up on us a few times after to see how we found it, when we get a battery said he would hook it up FOC, even if we don't buy from him, all for tuppence over the next guy.

Yeah, sorry, you said the second quote was a 6kw inverter.

Solis say you can only oversize the inverter by 133%, so that would be 8kwp max: https://www.ginlong.com/energy_storage_inverter5/3_6k_s5_l_en.html

9kwp from panels into a 6kw Solis Hybrid inverter that accepts max. input power of 8kw... Not to mention ridiculous €400.00/panel, which is about double of retail price. To me this is a hard NO.

It's the voltage that determines the max the inverter can take, not the number of panels. OP, do you have the spec sheet of the inverters?

Also note the 6kW inverter will require a €1k esbnetworks NC7 fee whereas the 5kW inverter is a free NC6, has the second quote included the NC7 fee?
