Hi, just wondering how much an instructor would charge to renew an expired ibt cert? Have previously completed ibt and have my own bike, various reasons stopped me completing full test

I'd recommend asking an instructor... Anything else is speculation. You don't need to do the whole thing again as far as I know

That's sound I'm going to call him one of the days, just wondering what to expect from someone who had to do it before

I was under the impression that you have to do the whole lot again. But as Bluefoam said, check with an instructor!

Just need to do module 5 (the road part) again but most instructors will get you to do a bit in the carpark as well, slow manoeuvres and the like. Should be a one day job. Couldn't comment on cost - will depend on the instructor.

Ask to be shown the test route as well when out on the road - most instructors will do it anyway but no harm to mention it so they'll point out the likely places for the various manoeuvres.

My young lad is in the throes of this: you can't 'renew' your IBT. You have to retake it.

Sure, the instructor will probably do a deal on the money, but there is no mechanism to extend or renew the IBT Cert which is issued by RSA.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Technically probably so. But it is only necessary to re do Module 5. Thats 5 hours. Probably €50 per hour depending where you live. Cheaper than full IBT at about €650

Not according to RSA - we've been on them several times about it. How is an instructor going to submit a new IBT based on 5 hours when RSA call for 15?

Anyhoo, water under the bridge: my young lad got a short notice appointment and passed in Roscommon this a.m., so we've avoided dealing with it by a few days !

Yes, we are now 'done' with tests. Hallelujah.

(he actually did a full test on A1 as well, so he's done 2 now).

    Now.........about RoSPA..............
