Mostly true. He is Marmite and lived as a closet homosexual for 30 years. Other closet homosexuals cannot stand that 😂

I reckon he probably has a thing for younger guys and when he came out a few years ago one of them had threatened him with the press after not getting fired or his promotion. Given he was possibly having clandestine sexual relations within the TV industry, I would imagine lots of encounters were with professionals. But someone knows this now and it most likely is compromising his future with any network.

He doesn't strike me as nonce or a dodgy sexual predator type, I would say any sex he has been involved with was highly consensual. But all it takes is some spin, on him abusing his position as a high ranking presenter and it could all metastasise into something something detrimental for the entire show.

From an article I read over the weekend, it wasn’t yesterday or a few months this trouble has been brewing- whilst conspiracy theories are always interesting when it comes to such “celebrities”, I think the reality is a bit more mundane.

Holly split from the talent firm that also had Philip as their leading light, about 3 years ago- the reason was simple- The agency apparently treated Holly as second to Philip and they prioritised Philips career over Hollys- that’s what the article claimed anyway- so Holly moved and set up her own agency and also apparently got a payout from her previous agency after some legal wrangle.

So this I believe was the start of it all and it has been festering ever since- Holly now had much more freedom and indeed confidence - and Philip was now at least an equal if not a rival.

Between that and the odd silly stories since, and individual press releases that didn’t reflect both parties positions or thoughts , it’s come down to “him or me”.

There’s likely been an unseen battle in the media over the last while especially with Holly now completely free of her old agency, she didn’t have to conform to what the agency wanted, which was effectively to always put Philip in a good light.

They probably should have called it a day a few years ago but obviously this gig is good for both the money and the ego so neither we’re prepared to let go.

Holly and Phil and their respective families were very close and used to socialise and holiday together but allegedly that changed after Holly stepped in for Ant on I'm A Celebrity and then won an award think it was a BAFTA and Phil wasn't happy that she won something without him and things between them went downhill after that.

This thread is gonna be bigger than the coronavirus one.

Holly gets to take so much time off. It seems when you are paid huge salary the more time you can take off. This is why I don’t feel guilty to be still working from home and doing f*k all most days!!

Rumours about Edd the Duck being involved in his disappearance.

I yearn for the glory days of Roland rat to come back. Him and Wee-man were such great tv characters. Then on RTÉ you had evil Podge what a legendary tv character he was.

I don't really know much about either of them.

I did get the impression that they were falling out of favour with the general public over the queing incident at the queen's funeral.

Phil already had a lot of somewhat negative opinions in the whole "coming out" fiasco.

Personally I get suspicious when people seem in absolutely fantastic moods all the time 😂 but then grumpy is my default mode 😂😂

I do find the amount of z listers coming out kicking Phil, pretty pathetic..... anything to get their names in the media.

Holly has broken down in tears on the show before during particularly tough stories involving children so my guess is that she has a very low tolerance for any misdeeds involving children. I think you are right that she and Phil didn't see eye to eye regarding his brother.

Time for Gordon the Gopher to release a tell all book about what happened in that broom cupboard.

I have to say I have always found Holly to be just as fake

Dermot and Alison done a tribute to him this morning. Holly didn't attend.

  • Registered Users Posts: 444 ✭✭RickBlaine

It was barely a tribute. Didn't even show clips, just a few photos. Both looked like they were in a hostage video. Alison is usually very bubbly but it was very hard not to hear disdain in her voice when she said his name. You can see it here:

In fairness, they can hardly have a big tribute show for him. He didn't die, and hasn't just decided it's time to move on. He very publicly had to leave because him staying on was untenable and there was both public and private pressure on him to leave or be forced out.

They couldn't not acknowledge it, they had to address the elephant in the room. But it's obviously in all their best interests to move on as quickly as possible.

A few guests and other hosts have said Phil isn't particularly nice

Was it clean queen Kim W he had an argument with on the couch?

I think both Holly and Phil have got big headed and obnoxious the last few years and now the stories about Phil if true are sickening

The Schofields seem to be a dubious family, at least the two brothers are. One would wonder what their childhood and upbringing were like.

It's a job for Nicola Thorp, she looks good on that sofa, a safe pair of hands

I was reading the news on the Sky News ticker at the bottom and when it got to "affair with much younger", I instantly thought, jaysus he's been shagging Holly. Then it said "male employee". Oh.

    Bit disappointed now.

What a spectacular fall from grace. He was a darling of daytime TV for 20 years.

Jesus. That is unreal stuff coming from Schofield of all people.

His agents have also dropped him as well citing 'honesty and integrity' according to a breaking news report on the Sky News app this evening.

His career is probably in ruins at the moment. How the mighty have fallen.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,352 ✭✭✭apache

So he had an affair? Hardly shocking. Thought something much worse was going to come out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,094 ✭✭✭Oscar_Madison

Probably the worst kept “rumour” - it was certainly heading that way considering the repeated re-prints of the stories in The Daily Mail- they were like a dog with a bone on this story -I reckon more will break - it’s not “just” this.

You don’t resign all future projects….”for an affair”

I reckon some Sunday paper has an “exclusive” - or maybe even tomorrow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 123 ✭✭Tavrin Callas

Agree. "Much younger" - who cares if he was over the age of consent? If this is the BIG REVEAL we've been expecting then it's not much to talk about.

My mother used to be highly suspicious of himself 🤣 “there’s something about him, you’ll see”, she was usually right about people.
