Hi I put 10 40w oil in my 2005 caddy 2.0 sdi with 294kms is this ok?

Was it meant to be 5w30?

Was it just a top up?

I’ve used 5w30 instead of 10w40 and vice versa with no issues

This is a PD engine? Oil needs to be correct VW spec to avoid cam wear. Someone here will know the correct spec.

Thanks very much yeah it was supposed too 5w30 I'm probably best too change it out?

I'm really not an expert but I believe the VW spec is 505.01 which is separate to the viscosity. I believe this refers to the anti-wear additives and such. Hopefully someone will confirm or otherwise.

Out of curiosity, just how slow is an SDI in the real world?

120km it sits at 3500 revs if it had a 6 speed box it would be fine! Overall I only use it in the city and it also is brilliant on diseal. I get 940kms too a full tank at 1.39 a litre.

It hates a motorway 😆

It'll be absolutely fine with 10w40.

Really bad. And that was when they were new. Anything would be quicker nowadays.
