Setting up a business email address?

I don't currently have a business website or domain, but I would like to set up a business email. I am not familiar with the process. It's all new to me. I am looking for something simple and straightforward to set up.

Can I set up a business email without a domain? Do you have any recommendations for an affordable way to do this? I would appreciate any assistance.

You can set up free accounts (yourbusinessname@gmail.com) with the likes of Google here

Or you can buy a domain name for about €10 per year from the likes of blacknight with a .com or .ie suffix https://www.blacknight.com/ and then pay them for email hosting (about €2.50 a month).

If you have a smartphone you should be able to configure it to accept/send emails.

Gmail is brilliant but the account belongs to gmail and they allow the person with the password access, so its not your account

A bad idea for a businness as staff come and go, and one could bring the account with them

Buying a domain means the businness can make as many "staff"@"domain" addresses as they like, they can redirect emails when staff leave, can reset forgotten or hacked passwords,

If you used gmail before, the google workspace will be very easy to work with

Buy a domain. It’s the only way to be sure that your email address is in your full control for the future.

See if you can assign your domain to Office 365 or Gmail for a simple life.

Do you mean get someone to set everything up for me and then they just hand it over to me at the end? That might be a good option.

Personally I wouldn’t trust an unknown party, like you’d find on fiverr, to do that. Have you got a young relative you could ask?

Plenty of options from various providers and in general it’s very cheap.

You should buy a domain, even if it’s only for email. It gives you the possibility of adding a website and having an online presence in the future as things grow and budgets get bigger

The technical support / customer service team with most reputable hosting / domain providers would be able to help you get setup. I'd also be very wary about asking some random stranger on Fiverr to setup my business email :)

We bought a domain name on register365 and then use google workspace so that the interface for us is exactly like gmail but it's our own domain. Plus you get the extra benefits of a google drive for the team, can add users easily and you can also use google voice which gives you a landline number that will go to your phone which can appear more professional than giving out a mobile number.

It's a good package, but are they harvesting your information to be able to target you with adverts? Can you confirm that your business information isn't going outside the EU? Lots of data protection issues with using Gmail and other Google services.

They were separate points really. If your data is going outside the EU, how do you ensure that it continues to be protected to the same level as GDPR provides?
