Extension Quote

    Hi,

Received a quote of €53k for a single story 17sqm modular extension to rear (1 addition room of kitchen). Recommend by builder due to less time on site and cost savings. Is this ballpark what is to be expected?

Would traditional block build be much preferred? Roughly how much more would traditional block build cost?

The new room would not integrate with existing underfloor heating. Would this create an issue?

    Really appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks

have a look at the SCSI costs and in comparison your quote is over 3K a square meter which IMO is high as a lot of the input prices have come down since this site put these costs together in September of last year. the likes of petrol/deisel prices, energy prices and the majority of raw materials are down as well. But have a look at the site here and it will give you an indication of prices relative to where you are in the country. Make sure you get at least 3/4 quotes before going ahead.

Get a couple of quotes for block built as well. May well come in less than 3k sq mtr depending on where you are and access etc.

Thanks. Based in Wicklow. Would the modular be an inferior product to block built? The structure would be sourced from Celuplast.com - guardian home (cannot post a link)

Any more movement on the questions above re the quality of modular? Exploring the idea of a modular kitchen extension but not sure if it’s really popular in Ireland at the minute?
