Visa for weekend break in Turkey

I'm booked to go to Istanbul this Thursday and I've had conflicting opinions on whether I need a visa and how to get one.

I've been told that you get your visa when off the flight and in Istanbul however I read somewhere that this practise has stopped and you're requires to get an E-Visa prior to flight.

When I've attempted to try and apply for one on the recommended site it says that I don't need a visa for periods less than 90 days?

Any one know what the story is?

All I know is 90 days was a thing from when I spent some months in Istanbul but that was over 15 years ago, so things might have changed since then. I don't recall getting a 90 day visa I just had my passport stamped, no paperwork.

I was there a year ago. Didn't need any visa. Still seems to be the case if you're there for 90 days or less for tourism purposes.

Went to IST about a year or so ago, no Visa needed...
