Fair City episodes (catchup/RTE player) on Sky+ box problems

Due to series link for Fair City on RTE One being mucked up by the US president visit last week I have resolved to catching up on the Sky+ Box through the RTE Player ... but far from impressed . The Picture/ratio is all wrong dimension with black top and bottom bars and no Subtitles! - and jerky when the camera pans and titles go up at the end of the programme.

I can adjust out the black bars at the top and bottom with the picture size button on my TV remote ... but then when i have to go back to normal viewing I have to adjust the picture size again back to how it was.

Any idea how to fix the series link? Its been broken on my dads Sky+ HD box for the last week. I just posted a thread about it looking for help.

If you are watching on a TV, maybe try forcing the aspect ration to 16:9. Its usually on auto.

should be able to find Fair city on the TV Guide , then press the record button on the remote twice then select 'record series' that should do it.

Its a question of " Do not adjust your sets "

Sky uses the CRID system or " content reference identifier "

These content reference identifiers are the key to recording and series linking on closed source PVRs and they must be maintained by the service provider.

Its RTE that need to get their act together , there is nothing you can do your side. They are most likely out of whack because of events last week so you just have to wait for them to sort out their CRID's for a more normal schedule.

Every few weeks this seems to happen with Rte. Series links break and yes as mentioned above, nothing users can do other than keep track and set individual recordings. ( And yes some issues were after the presidential visit but the current spate of broken series links kicked in before any schedule changes)

I did notice just from looking for fair city in catch-up it was horrible, using episode numbers instead of air date. Can't make much comment of the picture quality.

I tried that, but it just records it and doesn't give the little drop down menu to record once or record series. Only seems to be with Fair City.
