    Hi,

Looking for a soundbar for films and TV.

Ya aha YAS209, Denon DHTS416, Sony HT-G700, Yamaha MUSICCAST BAR 40 or something else?

Would stretching budgetto Sonos Beam Gen 2 give much better sound?

Can this or any other link up with a pair of Sonos One 2nd gen for rear sound?

    Thanks,

    Pa

    Thanks for the post dinneenp!

The Yamaha YAS209 is an amazing stand alone soundbar with a subwoofer included so gives great bass and a well rounded sound however you can't add additional speakers to it.

I would recommend going for the Sonos Beam myself - it sounds great on it's own but you are able to add a Sonos Sub for bass as well as Sonos Ones for rears so it's a system that can be built upon. They're also very reliable and have great app control.

Let me know what you think!

    Kind regards

    David

    Thanks for the quick reply

    Can I add a non-Sonos sub?

If I have 2 Sonos Ones for rears, how does the audio work? I'm presuming that the Ones don't need to be connected to the Beam via a cable? Do I set up via the app and lo-and-behold, no cables running around the room?

    Hi Dinneenp.

Unfortunately you can only use one of the Sonos subs with the Sonos soundbars.

You can only use Sonos products with other Sonos products.

For connecting the Sonos Ones. You just need to plug them into the mains and then you use the app to connect them wirelessly to the Beam.

I use the Beam at home myself and use two older play 1's and its great. My next upgrade is to add the sub mini.

Ok, and their subwoofers are EXPENSIVE.

Do you have any recommendations for soundbar, subwoofer & wireless rear speakers besides the Sonos please? Could stretch to €500

I'm not from Richersounds but I have the Polk S4 in my living room. https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-206004-polk-signa-s4-dolby-atmos-soundbar-and-subwoofer.aspx

includes a wireless sub (just needs power). Very simple to use and "just works" - no set up required really.

    Hey Dinneenp.

As Squeeonline said you could pick up the Polk S4 which is a great soundbar. It is priced at 349€

Or the non Atmos version the S2 priced at 179€

There are no soundbar with wireless rears at the 500€ price point unfortunately.

Some Samsung and LG come with wireless rears but you are up around the 895€

    Hi,

I've one last question- do any of your soundbars & subwoofer (for up to €500) allow for adding on wireless rear speakers layer? Maybe the Samsung HW-Q600B? AFAIK the Sony ones can't. Denon?

    Thanks again.

    Hi Dinneenp.

The Q600B can actually have rears added to it.(Missed this one the first time). They connect to the bar wirelessly but there is a wire between the two rear speakers.

The above is taken from Samsung's website on the Q600B.

The SWA9200s rears are priced at 229€

Sony have a range that can add in wireless rears like the A3000 priced at 575€ but you have to then add the subwoofer as well as the rears just like with Sonos.

"Sony HT-A3000 complements many other Sony designs, including the optional SA-SW5, SW3 subwoofers and the SA-RS3S, SA-RS5S rear speakers. Smooth lines, rich textures and timeless style set this soundbar apart from the opposition"

The Denon Home 550 priced at 535€ can also do this but again you need to add the subwoofer and rears

"The Home Sound Bar 550 makes the perfect starting point for an even more impressive surround sound speaker system. For a more powerful bass, just add the Denon Home Subwoofer wireless subwoofer. Even more immersive sound is achieved by adding Denon Home 150, 250 or 350 speakers at the rear."
