Just looking for a little advice from anyone with a experience of owning a Lexus IS 300, I’m looking at buying a 2017 model, my 09 a6 is on the verge of packing it in.

Just looking for any advice people who have them long term might have, I would drive approximately 20k to 30k per year as part of my job along with the usual kids runs etc etc. Been looking at 2017 passats/a4s/Skoda superbs and even a couple of Jaguar xe/xf although a couple of people have warned me off them. I understand with the Lexus it’s a sea chance from the diesels I’ve been looking at and driving hence the shout out.

    Any advice?

    hi,

well not the same car but we have a 141 GS300H for the last 5 years and apart from servicing not even a blub needed replacing and we clock up middle range miles on it. I know a owner of a 151 is300h and he loves it same story no issues apart from regular servicing. average consumption on the GS is 6.2lt/100km donr know about the IS but never heard him complain.

Some people are mad about the CVT gearbox ( the way it functions NOT mechanical issues ) but to be honest it doesn't bother either of us much. Best go for a test drive in both and see which suits you best ( IS can be a bit tight for space in the rear )

    Hope this helps

Just be aware that the IS is not a big car.

Class car, I ran a 172 for nearly 3 years, put 73k miles on it. Beautiful car to drive, real world mpg 37 on short runs, 50mpg on long run at 100kmh.

Super reliable, really its the size of an A4 rather than an A6.

I would go diesel at your mileage.
