Does anyone know..with fluorescent lights to be discounted shortly, will there be any grant for households to replace these?

I have 3 in my house and want to replace them anyway for cost reasons so would be curious if there will be any financial help.

If you want, you could replace the fluorescent tubes with LED tubes at about €10 a piece.

Or an equivalent 5ft LED batten would be about €40 - €50

Not really the kind of cost that a householder would need a grant for.

But its not replacing bulbs just?

Would the entire fittings not need to be changed professionally to get rid of the florescent strip encasement?

The fittings on thd ceiling are more than just the bulb strips.

You can just replace the bulbs with equivalent LED ones.

You will also usually need to replace the ballast.

Even replacing the fitting with something else is going to cost low double figure euro (more like 25 than the 40-50 now, they've got a lot cheaper quite quickly) - the idea that there would be financial help is utterly laughable. There is no requirement to have an electrician replace a light fitting.

Well you have to forgive me as I am not au fait with electrics.

I don't know how much an electrician charges to change fittings, that's why I asked the question.

Been around for a decade at least. You need to be careful with what you buy as some require removing or changing the ballast and/or starter.

You would get a replacement, all LED batten for the cost of two or three LED T8 bulbs; and won't have the same faff with altering the fitting.

For some LED lamps you would need to remove the ballast, but it's a simple enough job which does not require a grant.

You can buy them with mulitple levels of light output.

Very dim flourescents are often just brcause the tube is worn out, though. They go dim and red as they get old rather than just suddenly dying.
