What to do with garage floor

Hi all,

My garage floor is concrete but it was never properly sealed and is crumbly and always causing a lot of dust.

I have tried to seal with PVA glue but no use. I am now thinking I will use self levelling compound ( it also has a fairly big fall on it ).

Any advice on what else I could do ?

but I suspect you don't need it perfect and might even want to bind the surface with something non slip.

I'd suggest an application-specific resurficant. Seems 20N to 30N is suggested for garage floors, and that existing floor looks very sandy. PVA was never going to do more than keep the dust down by keeping the particle size up.

Ardex K301 appears to be what you need:

Compressive Strength

• After 7 days 20.0 N/mm²
• After 28 days 28.0 N/mm²

Critical thing is getting the bond between the existing flooring and the new surface right. If it's crumbly, then it's going to de-laminate and fail in spots.

To me that concrete looks like some of the stuff I make up for rough work with very little cement in it. With too little cement the surface will wear badly like that and PVA will only be of very limited short term use.

Builders merchants will usually order it in. Least you know it will be fresh.
