Jesus first Newstalk, then Dunphy and now the Twig has the tool on his show

I don't care if he "was there" 25 years ago. So were several flies and spiders for all he did there and we're not interviewing them. It's also 25 years since Mahon, why isn't he going on shows about that.

This stupid funking country. At least after tomorrow, theres no more "Marking the anniversary".

Flawed like us all but he did the business when it had to be done.

He needed help from US and goodwill from UK to get it over the line.

    Credit where credit is due.

Considering the shinners have “distracted” the youth of the nation from looking behind the curtain, I wouldn’t be surprised if the FF PR machine got him posting silly jokes, and memes, on Twitter. Lining him up nicely for a solid run at the presidency.

There’s no Bertie love from anyone I know. We remember the Minister for Finance who expected people to believe he had no Bank Account.

Ww remember the findings of the Mahon Tribunal in respect of Flynn, Lawlot, Ahern.

The last memories we have of Bertie is sitting under a kitchen cupboard having a cuppa advertising the stellar publication - The News of the World.

Whatever business he did, he managed to do it without a bank acount. The man is a crook. Simple as.

    Nothing is simple in life.

Every life has a balance sheet.

When it comes to the GFA he did well.

It should be possible to hold him to account for the bad and acknowledge the good.

He had the fortune to be Taoiseach at this time, and even more so to leave the scene before the crash.

Anyone else being Taoiseach would have done the same and be similarly applauded.

More fool the media establishment massaging his ego. Yet we get criticised as conspiracy theorists if we dare to question the mainstream media.

Total overhype on this 25 years thing. Sentimentality sells newspapers apparently.

I think we are missing some of our older more "seasoned" politicians. Seasoned being a tactful way of describing them as the corrupt guttersnipes they all are.

Fair play to him, he has kept his head down and done his doldrums. Give them hell Bert, go for it, it ain't the dog in the fight, but the pints are better in Kennedy's ... and the craic. He should sort that out, Quinns is awkward and phecking nosey as phuck.

He might be just a cute corrupt wee phucker , but we should be glad he is on Ireland's side. Which most of the Pearse Martyrs certainly are not? They are still only realising that you don't need to try that hard at all. It ain't what you think you can do... it's what everyone else thinks you can do that matters, perception is king in politics, ask Willie O'Dea. FFS, give me Limerick any day, they are a class act and the cutest, toughest of all. It is the Shannon that keeps them right, they are the best of peoples. Simon Zebo is from Cork, all that shower is.

This country has far to many fanatics as it is, bring back the old dog for the hard road.

If we swapped Ulster for Cork this wouldn't even be happening.

The one thing far worse than a Bertie love-in are anti GFA toerags spoiling for a fight.

Let's hope the fears of that are unfounded.

Well seeing as Bertie nor any of the other corrupt scumbags have ever actually been held account I see no reason to put up with this hagiography shite.

Irish politics needs proper statesmen. It has lost it's oomph with all these lefties and their rubbish ideologies they misinterpreted from some 19th century loons diatribe. Witless cranks the lot of them.

Spending 1.60 a litre on juice, what the phuck are we doing????

If they don't build a proper covered chair lift across Galway harbour I am giving up.

2040 for an airport train.... what is that about?

If they don't catch themselves on there won't be a nipper to treat in that new hospital they are building, or sorry , let me rephrase that , paying a private accountancy firm, to pay a smorgasbord of foreign developers and engineers, to blow all our money on? 4 billion shat all over Rialto. It gets patronising. You would build plenty of Irish gaffs with 4 billion, around 10,000 to be exact .... and wait for it, you would get the 4 bill back and still have your hospital. Meanwhile the Department of Finance are booking tables in Guilbaud's , no one that matters even eats there any more. They certainly can't spell it either.

Sort them out Bert, get on it. I am not sure Maty Lou's foundation can hang on that long. Leo will not be getting the finger out either, too busy sussing out fancy apartments in Anderlecht.

It is as bad as Claire Daly sitting in a shed pretending she has Covid. This is what happens when you lose control of things.

Have you seen what the main opposition was up to 25 years ago today and we are told to forgive and forget.

The same people who seem to have a comment about everything but none of the group up the North trying to start back up the troubles.

Unless Enda decides to run I will vote for Bertie as President. Critical to the peace process and was Taoiseach during a period of unprecedented economic prosperity. The economic crash was global and we recovered better that any other place.

    True Statesman.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

Imagine if you’d only learned a bit of history or been old enough to understand what went on through the 60s, 70s & 80s! The number of failures because of one weak link in the chain. Very few politicians are all good or all bad and you have absolutely no idea what an alternative to any of the politicians involved would have done, but based on past outcomes the changes were high it would fail. All of the men and women involved deserve the credit for doing the right thing on that occasion no matter what they did on other occasions.

    A parasite like haughey.

At least mcguinness and adams never pretended to be any different.

    25 years my bollicks.

SF and IRA deserve all the credit here along with hume and trimble. Not that waffler.

I didnt have a bank account. Thief.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,619 ✭✭✭jj880

Havent watched or listened to any of his comeback bollix but if he isnt at it already soon he'll be sloochin round the place in his anorak hammin it up with "dat" and "der" in every sentence. Bertie knows his target audience and sadly he does have a chance to be president.

He has a teflon neck on him spouting about the peace process when he destroyed this country with his giveaway inflationary budgets, deregulation of quarries and tax breaks for his buddies. He should be in jail.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,209 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

At his time of life, 71 ? Why can’t he just sit back, relax and enjoy his retirement ? I think 73 come the next presidential election, so 80 leaving office…

He currently has about 151,000 per year of a pension…had and has id imagine reasonable savings and available revenue streams too going forward from his consulting work and speaking engagements…so it’s not for the €€€

why anyone, Bertie and Michael D included, would want to spend their twilight years, upping sticks into to the Aras, living life on some other peoples timetable..have the money made.

Who says that is not what the man intends to do? All this thread is a bunch of people speculating on the internet and its very unlikely that any of them are party to his plans. He was a very able politician and knows very well what could come out of the woodwork if he was to run for office again. I expect he’ll take his bow and we won’t be hearing of him running for office again.

Ha ha. 10/10 for comedic effort.

No one has mentioned the suicide comment yet. I hope the little turd does stand for the Presidency. He'd find out then what his country really thinks of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 862 ✭✭✭redlough

McGuinness and Adams murdered people from every side of the community. Covered up for sexual assaults on women and men. Protected child paedophiles and hide them with children. The list goes on.

I suggest you look into what happened at the GFA. Sinn Fein and the IRA tried to make sure it wouldn't happen. Now are trying to change history by running a PR campaign that some people are lapping up.

Trimble and Hume get the Nobel Peace Prize should tell you a lot.

Not sure what you are suggesting here dude. I will vote for Bertie and so will hundreds of thousands of others if he decides to run. Online outrage merchants don’t reflect the views of Pat and Pamela Middle Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 767 ✭✭✭dontmindme

You're basically saying Pat and Pamela of Middle Ireland haven't a brain in their head.
