I was listening to 'You're Gonna Lose That Girl' and I realised something. It's basically a way of saying any girl out there is willing to cheat on their boyfriend with some random dude if they aren't dined enough and bought stuff. And it's also a way for the singer to say 'I could have your girl if I wanted'.

It's a subtle way of saying your that girlfriend is a ticking time bomb. Feminists don't seem to care about this!

the lyric says "that girl" if you read it through it looks like one guy talking to another guy about a particular girl, I dont see any universal lyrics there

I always found this one to pretty ambiguous about what Lennon meant by leave you flat - anyway, it's a nasty enough song, even if it's the edge in it that I find the most interesting thing about it.

I used to get the NME back in the late seventies when it was good (Charels Shaar Murray, Nick Kent et al) and they had a brilliant letters page.

Around that time EMI brought out a compilation called The Beatles Love Songs.

One NME correspondent wondered why "Chains" and "Why Don't we Do It In The Road" weren't included.
