Today FM - Ian Dempsey B' fast show - gift grub query?

I understood that gift grub was a sketch on this show with Mario and Ian - where Ian impersonates folk in a jovial manner.. I don't get to listen to the show - but I went to the podcasts and it seems like its Ian interviewing the actual people? Its not Mario? V confused.. could someone clarify? TIA

Haven’t listen to it in a very long time but it was always Ian interviewing whomever Mario was impersonating. Or just chatting with them, different characters would “pop up” at various times.

Mario Rosenstock does the impersonations. It is something that he has been doing for years. Gift Grub started in 1997/1998 AFAIK when Mark Byrne was presenting the Breakfast Show. It continued on when Ian Dempsey when took over in September 1998. When Paul McLoone was producer of Ian's show, he used to contribute some impersonations, but it is all Mario these days as far as I know.
