Ordering parts from German websites.

How's it going?

I'm finally able to start buying parts for my build next week! Very Excited, but also crying inside from the massive amount of money that it's gonna cost me.

The cheapest parts in Europe are on German websites such as Mindfactory.de/Amazon.de which don't ship to Ireland.

For those of you who have ordered from Germany before what is the easiest way to go about this?

If I was to have any issues with a part and had to send it back, would it be much of a headache?

Amazon.de ships to Ireland when sold by amazon, you just need to pay postage, login via your .Co.uk credentials

I got them sent to my Mailboxde.com account and then forwarded as a single shipment from there.

I don't know that it is the easiest way, but it worked.

To be honest, it's way past my original budget of 2-2.5k (which was already kinda crazy for me), however, with Nvidia becoming scalpers themselves this generation I have no choice. I want to record gameplay and stream, do some editing and use blender 3d, so I feel like Nvidia has to be the choice here.

I could cut costs a little bit and go for the 13600k set up, but I figure if I'm here already I may as well go all out.

I built my current pc 2 years ago.

got everything from amazon.de delivered to my house (P&P €10)

except case & psu which I got from amazon.co.uk. Case was bulky to it would have drastically increased p&p from Germany (free from Uk) and I didn't want any drama regarding European plug sockets for psu so I bought that through UK

I'm no expert on that kind of thing, but i would be under the impression that it wouldn't be a good idea. Pretty sure the manufacturer would say not to use leads from psu a on psu b.

The kettle lead is a standard connector.

This it is 220-240V at 50/60Hz. So standard connection. It's the leads/wires after the PSU that you should use the manufacturers type.

I've finally managed to order everything today. I used Amazon.de, Computer Universe, and Caseking.de.

The build was about 150 euros more expensive as they all added an extra tax since I'm buying from Ireland. Trying to sort out all the parts at the best prices was a pain in the ass tbh. Safe to say I'm eating koka noodles for the foreseeable.

On my old PC, I just plugged the European socket into the one we have, straight in and it's worked fine for 8 years. Would I be fine doing that again or is it a bad idea? I use some standard extension lead atm, but I do plan on upgrading to something a bit more sturdy and powerful soon enough.

The psu kettle lead you have will be fine on new psu, as mentioned its a standardised cable for powering psu's

Not directly impacting the build listed here but just for reference since it was mentioned the C13 (Kettle) connector is standard, while very common it's not always used. Higher output PSUs can use C19 (I ran into that on my latest build with a HX1500i).
