Can I join a GAA club in a different county?

Not a transfer, never played before and have friends in a club in Dublin. I know you can't transfer clubs if living in a different county but unsure about joining rules? Thanks

If never played before you don't need to transfer.

If you've been a member of club before, then you'll need a transfer, whether or not you actually played.

If you've never been a member before, then joining rules will depend on the bye-laws of the county where you want to join a club. Think Dublin is fairly....let's say "open"....about this, so you should be okay. Best bet is to talk to the Secretary of the club you want to join.

Hijacking this thread a bit. I'm moving county next month and I know there's a rule that I can't play championship in 2 counties in the same season. But does the same apply to leagues? I might play a couple of league games in my current county, just don't want to rule myself out for league in my new county.

I'm fairly sure it only applies to championship though.

You'll be grand as long as your home club doesn't delay the transfer by refusing to sign the inter county transfer.

Sound. I thought that was the case alright.

Won't have any issues with the clubs anyway.
