    Hi i recently bought audi a3 1.6 petrol 06

    Car failed on emissions

    Low idle 1.12% limit 0.30

High idle lambda 0.93 to pass shouldnt be between 0.97-1.03

    High idle 2.74% limit 0.20

    Hc 269 limit 200

Could that be just from hole in exhaust? Or more likely catalytic converter and lambda sensors?

Well they didnt tell me anything what could cause high emissions. All those numbers from emissions are from the nct centre

A hole in the exhaust usually causes high lambda readings.

Yours looks like it's running very rich.

First thing is see if there's any codes stored. There could possibly be a lambda sensor issue. If it was the cat you'd see high CO but good lambda.

Is it burning oil? Blue smoke etc. That engine, assuming its an 8 valve BSE is probably burning oil.

Codes that i have are all related to lambda sensors but i though it get bad readings due to hole in exhaust. Its not burning oil i changed oil 4k km ago for 5w30 and there was no need to top it up.

Replace spark plugs and new air filter. Take it for a long journey on a motorway. Short drive cycles contaminate the engine faster. Ensure your engine is well warmed up when you reach the test centre.
