Watched episode 1 not too bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,676 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Watched it all on the player.

Enjoyed it, a solid 7.5 or 8/10 for me, even though some of the characters were a little stereotypical.

Enjoying this, 4 in, 2 to go.

I like the realism of the Police cars having the bullet proof glass and the feeling they are constantly targets when they police the community, something that isn't the same issue even in the roughest parts of England.

I watched episode one and the ex-social worker did my head in. It was as if she were talking to a four year-old all the time, no matter who she was talking to. I don't know if I can listen to her for another 5 episodes. 😜

I've watched 2 episodes, I'm enjoying it, if I could find it on the player I'd binge the rest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,582 ✭✭✭Dave0301

Her stupidity is really annoying and distracting from what could be a good show. Only watched the first episode so maybe she gets better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,264 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

Who does she think she is, treating people with basic respect and humanity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,227 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

In reality, most social workers are as hard as nails with what they've had to put up with, and they can treat people with respect and humanity without treating them like children.

The Grace character, and how she acts, is a work of fiction. 😜

Well, yes, literally, all the characters are a work of fiction.

Just catching up on this now. Think it's interesting how they look at the different approach and moral compass of the officers, the new recruits as opposed to the old guard.

    Causes problems in the organization.

The young recruit, Annie, reminds me of Bosch's daughter

Episode 4 chaos all of a sudden , too much of it

I'll probably see it out anyhow

Excellent finish to the series, nicely wrapped up

I really enjoyed blue lights. Thought it was v well portrayed

Thoroughly enjoyed it, very well done.

    That was really really good!

watching first episode. Anyone explain why they didn’t charge the dangerous driver with dangerous driving?

Really enjoyed the series overall glad to see more on the way.

One real weak link and I know he was only in a few episodes Peter Campion...bloody awful actor, terrible accent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,264 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

What accent? He was brought up in Dublin, and he’s playing a Dub again, as he did in Love Hate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,872 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

I am aware.... his normal Dublin accent would have been fine, but that put on scanger accent was absymal. He is just an awful actor, terrible in London Irish and anything else I have seen him in

Enjoyed this, looking forward to Series 2, however...

It's just a pity they killed off Gerry, show needs similar streetwise character teaching the rookies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,872 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

    I agree

He was a real stand out acting wise.

I am guessing at least some room for new characters for season 2.

At the end of series 4(the full moon one) who was the actress who spoke with the ombudsman? I recognise the voice but not the face.

I can only assume there were no initial plans for a second season, as it was wrapped up very nicely. Not sure where they go next. I really enjoyed it thou

Did RTE pick this up yet or did I miss it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,787 ✭✭✭brian_t

    You didn't miss it.

It starts on RTE One on Tuesday 7th November at 10.15pm.

Thanks for that! I really enjoyed it when on the BBC, but now I can get the folks to watch it on the player 👍

I believe Series 2 release is imminent, saw a promo on BBC advising to catch up on Series 1 before 2 is released. They have also renewed for 2 more series.

Series 2 starts Monday 15 April at 9pm on BBC1…

    It's already on iPlayer.

Not had time to check the iPlayer, are they releasing the entire series or just mirroring the live episodes? I think the entire series went out for Series 1 after first episode.

Loyalists this time. Presumably series 3 has Alliance party criminals.

    Full season is on iplayer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,872 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Solid episode 1 of season 2 I thought.

Could have done with "previously on Blue Lights", I spent so much time trying to remember who was who.

Finished S2, thought it was a good improvement over S1.

Without revealing spoilers,is Derek Thompson aka Charlie Fairhead in it? I am recording the series off freesat and will watch it all then!

I've only seen the first two episodes, but he only made a very brief appearance. So far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,872 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Watched episode 2 of the new season, really enjoyed it, moved things along. Kind of liking watching it weekly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,227 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

I imagined that the 2nd series wouldn't be as good as the 1st given that Richard Dormer wasn't in it, but I think it turned out to be better.

I didn't realise that Desmond Eastwood who plays the part of DS Murray Canning is the brother of Colum Eastwood the SDLP leader. That kind of thing seems to happen down here as well with people like Killian Scott being Eoghan Murphy's brother. Politicians are probably good actors as well. 😛

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,676 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Some of the acting is a little bit ropey, but overall a watchable show.

Everyone seems to get off with their work colleagues in the PSNI.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,986 ✭✭✭squonk

I finished it last week. I thought Season 1 stood up better. I hadn’t rewatched S1 but I wasn’t sure who DrugMammy was. The woman the two estate leaders were getting their split from and contract on the ground the the “Dublin fellas”.

Seemed more like a general fallout season after S1 and I wasn’t convinced with the ending as a vacuum wouldn’t have existed for king so the estate probably wouldn’t have all been so happy.

And, yes, part of the duties of a PSNI officer appear to be available to get off with and ride your fellow officers 😀

Yup, once the happy "couple" start having the craic, you know it's going to end in drama, so telegraphed, could see all of that happening the minute they started with the tea break.

Great finale to S2, quite enjoyable.

I thought for a second that something nasty was going to happen to Grace, as she exited the pub down the dark alley. It was a nice relief to get the happy ending.

It's been renewed for two more series, something to look forward to.

Desmond Eastwood is not related to Colum Eastwood the politician.

He does have a brother called Colum but he is a filmmaker.
