Gearbox specialist Limerick?

Anyone got any first hand experience of gearbox repair (specifically) in Limerick?

I'm being told that my gearbox diff likely has worn bearings... but my mechanic isn't up to the task.

Had the mechanic any recommendations? They'd usually be in the know of someone that specialises in stuff like that.

Manual... I believe most just recondition them or swap out the worn parts... now, to find someone who'll take on the job!

No, I've no previous experience of dealing with them. Gearbox repair is a specialised job. Most mechanics would not have that level of expertise although should be able to source a refurbished box if you're considering replacing your own rather than getting it repaired. That might be a cheaper option.

If the car is a keeper well worth getting it repaired otherwise go for the cheap fix.

Hey, I have a similar issue with my car and need to probably get the selector forks, dual shift clutch and maybe fix a mechatronic unit. I had it towed to Frank Hogans and they said its a mechatronic issue but it turns out its a mechanical fault that needs to be fixed. Jut wondering what your experience was with Limerick Gearbox Center if not I'll need to get it to Mr. Gearbox Mr. Clutch in Dublin or gearbox specialists in Offaly.

I took it to Alpina motors for a finish - and it turned out to be the splines on the driveshaft...

Oh, do you know how much that cost you? I might be going to Mr. Gearbox Mr. Clutch, they seemed to know the stuff and atleast were more customer friendly compared to everyone else. I need to get a new clutch pack and get my mechatronics fixed as well.
