I have a couple of questions about Ad Blue.

What is the capacity for Ad Blue in an Audi A6. I cannot find any info on this in the owners manual.

Secondly, I find the pumps for Ad Blue painfully slow, with the pump frequently 'clicking off'. Is this normal?

2: yes very very slow.. haven't personally had the pump constantly clicking off .

On most vag cars it says on the display the amount of adblu to add, a minimum and maximum. You should try not to fill more than suggested on the in car display as it can cause issues if it's overfilled with sometimes a dealer reset required if it's filled to the brim.

I recently bought a 2017 A4 and it has the Adblue filler cap beside the diesel cap. Is there any way of know how much Adblue there is in the car or when to top it up? I've went through all the car menus and can't find anything.

Also it doesn't have car play as standard, is it possible to get this retrofitted? (May need a new thread for this one!)

My 2016 A6 has Amble filler cap in same place as your A4. You will get a warning on dashboard when your Adblue needs to be replenished...usually about 2000km remaining warning. What's car play?

I watched a YouTube video before of a mobile mechanic and he said it's mad how car's don't show how much adblue is in the tank and only tells you when it's low. Also do not over fill the adblue as that can cause problems too. Best look up how large the tank is when you get the low warning and fill under the amount that is in the tank.

You can find out how much is in the tank with a scan tool but not everyone is a mechanic and has scan tools.

Hi. My warning adblue light came on and I refilled it at the pump. The light never went off. I taught I'd make it until the next service (Monday week) but it won't now. Is there anything I can do to get the light off? Could I have over filled it? I rang the garage and they are too busy to take it next week to look at it. It's a Peugeot 5008 2019.

Yes if you overfill (often the cars display will show you how much to put in a min and max amount.

You need a scan tool with the reset adblu level option. Maybe ring a few backstreet garages and see if one will reset it if you are worried car will refuse to start before you have your booking.

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes it is counting down. There is around 200km left. I'll try a few of the local mechanics on Monday. If I got something to drain it myself would that do any good.

It depends on the location etc. It's not worth it. The chemicals are nasty and you may need to remove tank to drain it.

Google codes best options and go on some audi forum or just take it to garage. Plus deleted wouldn't do that on new Enough car as went trade in no Respectable dealer will sell a deleted car as why would anyone buy car for over 20k that isn't right? Personally I definitely wouldn't buy it and many more would have same Opinion unless it was like 5 thousands cheaper than a legal car and if I did buy one unknowing deleted even year on I be looking for refund or car fixed. Not worth it unless car value is less than 5 thousand

You’re under no obligation to tell a dealer your trade in has the Adblue deleted.

Btw I’d happily buy a 20k car that had its DPF EGR and Adblue mapped out.

Normal General public won't knowing spend 20k plus on deleted car if car Developed a fault in my ownership I would definitely look at my options but buy defective car for offset definitely not

I wouldn't be surprised if dealer went there doing their check of vehicle do a Diagnostic check on adblue and if module is not there will want big discount

Thats first thing I done when I bought diesels. Ad blue is nothing but trouble, I do know of at least two main dealers getting it mapped out of any cars it's giving trouble in

You’re creating a hypothetical situation that is never going to happen. Dealers generally don't do any mechanical or diagnostic checks on trade ins. A quick test drive and a look around the exterior is all.

I’m not saying to the OP to go and rip out all the emissions stuff, it could be something very minor. But IF they are faced with a €2,000 Adblue fault vs a €200 remap on a presumably out of warranty car I know which one I would be choosing.

I understand that if car Developed a fault went I owned it I would look at options. But I definitely wouldn't buy a faulty car from offset that all I'm saying

The owners manual and online owners forums give a procedure to use when refilling. The car gives a minimum and maximum fill for normal adblue topup. One of the tips is to refilling with engine off and not to open close or lock/ unlock the vehicle for 15 minutes after the addition. Have successful done this myself 3 times with my car, using containers of adblue not forecourt pumps.

If you have not overfilled the car trying a small addition of 3L might reset the car, however if your fault is with the adblue system not the liquid level, then the most effective solution cost wise could be an electronic fix.

There you go your talking to clown and trying to "up himself " saying yeah I'm very busy I'm even doing work for main dealer any car that coming in there just remapping them . Wake up if think a main dealer is going to go down that road at very most a mechanic who was working on it might say there other options available on quite ect

Complete over reaction. I worked in a dealer and brought cars to him to be remapped, he solved the ad blue issues and the customers were happy
