Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Possibly looking at a new car. Supposed to come with 5 year AA road assistance. Never bought new before so I have some concerns. It's not likely but what if the car suffered a total engine failure in the first 3 months. Is it the norm that the dealer would provide a replacement car until your car is repaired? Or even a replacement if need be? I did ask but felt the answer was a bit "ah yeah we would look after you"

I haven't signed any contracts yet so just pondering for now.

Any other do's or don'ts when buying new would be appreciated. It's going to be PCP.

Personally speaking (and I've never bought new either) if something so catastrophic as an engine failure occurred within 3 months, I'd be wanting a brand new car.

You're right to ask though OP and if you're getting the usual "be grand" nonsense then either pin them down on it specifically or take your business elsewhere.

5 year AA is thrown in a lot of times. I got RAC with last new car, don't even remember for how long. With my current insurance I get "free" AA. Handy for when the kids ran the battery down. Plus most cars now don't come with a spare wheel. Either a little compressor or nothing. Soi AA can sort you out then

I think the main point of the post is what happens if an engine blows up after 3 months? my only experience was many years ago and my mate had a Audi A4 which was still in warranty with Audi, maybe 2-3 years old. He had a load of issues and in the end Audi just put a new engine in it. Thats my only experience. While he was getting the new engine he got a loan car

I have seen a few people get loan cars from garage when they had to get firmware updates done. Parents had a Kona which had to get new battery and they got garage car etc.

I wouldnt be too concerned to be honest. I doubt the garage can give you anything written with this type of thing but you can ask
