Do you have a battery or an EV? Day/Night would be very useful in the winter when the sun is at its lowest when coupled with a battery to time shift the cheaper off peak rate and when heating demand is highest & not much solar generation happening. Does it have an ASHP or other type of heating?

Without a battery 24 hr may be simpler, with a battery day/night definitely. Try the renewables sub board also for ideas / advice.

Are you talking about metering or billing? New or existing connection?

From what I've read on the EV & solar FB groups ESB are trying to upgrade all existing day/meters to smart meters, so it seems unlikely they're offering day/night meters for new connections.
