Heavy Duty UPVC Window Pull-ins

Does anyone know where to find these?

I have four tall, black UPVC windows on the south facing side of my house, over the years the sun has caused the windows to bow. Black externally, white internally.

New hinges installed but didn’t make a difference.

There is one ‘heavy duty’ pull-in in the centre of the hinge side of each window and I’m looking to install additional at the top and bottom of each window.

The small white wedges won’t do the job.

I think it's commonly called a cavity locking wedge, but I can only find the lower quality plastic types as I suspect the rest aren't commonly retro-fitted and are probably customised to the frame mouldings.

Those pull-ins will only work on the hinge side, I don't know if there is anything you can do on the top and bottom.

I would give them a call first and ask if these can be used on the top and bottom rail, as I believe they are for use on the hinge stile only. I can’t see how they would work on the top and bottom.

Edit; I’m assuming a side hung window here.

The small white wedges are run-up blocks to support the window when closed.

There may be a bit of a misunderstanding - these are for the top and bottom of the hinge side. Hinge is on the vertical side, window bowed top and bottom. These will pull in the window at the top and bottom on the hinge side. On the handle side, a bigger locking mechanism with locking points closer to the top and bottom I’m hoping will tighten the seal.

Yes I misunderstood, I thought the hinges would have their own inbuilt pull-ins top and bottom;

They do but the window being bowed is stronger than the pull in on the hinges. Replaced the hinges first but it wasn’t enough.

Except I noticed that they have a Duraflex specific version - and I have a Duraflex frame - but can only be ordered in batches of 250 units. That means that you'd have to be sure that your frame can take the fitting as there are frame-specific versions available.

Where can I get the simple wedge pull-ins at a sensible price? In Ireland suppliers want a tenner a pair while in the UK you can buy ten pairs for that price.

These only seem to be available in the UK where most won't ship to Ireland except for absurd Brexit driven prices.

My never-failed-before local hardware shop doesn't stock them and I'm not optimistic Munster Joinery will offer anything but new hinges if not complete windows 😀. Enquiry pending.

While I'm at it I'd like to replace all the window hinge screws - ideally with stainless as the zinc plated ones are rusting away. Can anyone please recommend a screw type/ source for PVC - preferably available in SS?
