Switch or Splitter HDMI question

Hi, Can someone please tell me what its called:

I have a desktop and a monitor working perfectly. Happy days - hdmi to hdmi

I have a laptop too and its connected to a separate monitor. Also happy days - also hdmi to hdmi

Now i want to know if i can get my desktop to extend onto both monitors - extending not mirroring - the desktop only had one hdmi connection

Is this possible or do i need to have another hdmi connection from the desktop or can i go through one monitor to the next?

Any help please, thank you in advance/

to extend screen you need independent connections from PC to monitors. Depend on PC specs(make and model ???), you might have other connectors available for that

Yeah, a kvm switch will do that. There's lots of different brands with varying prices.

KVM switch does not make dual monitors if there is no dual output available from one device. It does make possible to switch between two(multiple) devices at ease.

Docking station might do the trick, but it depend on PC specs

You're "golden", you have multitude of options !

Still, motherboard/CPU/GPU ???

Any of them DP (display port) will let you have additional monitor(s) connected in extended mode as long your monitor have same DP port. Even if monitor does not have DP, there are DP-to-HDMI cables available

I would recommend to go for cable rather than adapter, e.g.:

I noticed i missed your in-use HDMI to motherboard I/O, by the looks of your GPU(graphics card, screenshot i re-posted) it seam "beefy" - move your HDMI to it and use DP there too.

Have a look at the connections on the monitor you want to extend to, and see if any of them match the display port (see post no. 2) connections which are shown on the back of the graphics card in your photo. If one does match, then all you need is a display port cable, maybe a tenner on Amazon etc. Failing that, check for a DVI port (again see post no. 2) on the monitor, as you have that available also on the graphics card and a DVI cable is all you would need
