Moving within Ireland

If you had to leave the county you currently live in where in Ireland would you like to go to live ?

Basically what county or town would be your next port of call,

I live in Dublin so if i had to go I'd avoid the midlands just no appeal to me at all, Wicklow or the West it would be for me,

I reckon West Galway or West Kerry,

I'll go West Kerry out Ballydavid way ,

I'd love to go back to the midlands. Great cycling terrain (for my fitness level), lakes, and most importantly family.

I moved from Dublin to Clare. I wouldn't move back, although I did love growing up and living in Dublin until I was 32.

If I did move anywhere, it would have to be within a 30 minute drive from the coast.

Im in East Galway at the moment but will be moving in the next few months. Ive not settled on a destination yet. Cheaper rents and availability of accomodation is my primary concern. I lived in Dublin for 13 years in total and between the increase in crime and the collossal rents I am not considering Dublin. Im actually considering Belfast. Prices for accomodation is half of what Dublin is, and ironically from anecdotal reports, it is mush safer than Dublin.

My next thought was Limerick where I went to Secondary School.

Third on my list was Cork, but Im not sure what accomodation is like.

genuinely can’t think of anywhere else. Dublin has issues, overpopulation, poor public transport, constant heavy / busy traffic, crime. But it is conveniently placed and has amenities.

I have friends down in Ballycullane in Co. Wexford , quiet, very beautiful, picture postcard picturesque, near one of the nicest beaches or THE nicest beach in the country, feathard on sea… but so rural it’s extremely poorly connected. The rail service im seeing ceased in 2010. Bus Eireann route serves Ballycullane on Tuesdays only….it’s beyond remote… fine if you have the ability to drive but say if you got ill and couldn’t …

Thats the conundrum I face. Transport links anywhere but Dublin is poor.
