F/O was out checking safe 2 weeks ago, seemed happy and was sound enough.

Letter arrived this morning to say application has been received.

Well my 12 weeks are up on the 6th June and got a call from GP this morning to go and see him. Don’t know how much longer it’s going to take after this for it to arrive now.

Second rifle application lodged in my local station on May 3rd, grant letter arrived today.

Kildare seems to be moving things pretty fast.

    Suppose it’s getting closer.

Left a Substitution form into the local Station on 12th June, posted through the door.

Passing yesterday evening (21st) and saw door open etc, so dropped in to check how things were progressing.

Garda said to me "Sargent is on his holidays, so it won't have been looked at yet, but he's due back sometime this week".

Right enough, he pulled a handful of envelopes out of a locker and sorted through them 'till I saw my one.

He opened it and give it a glance, asked why I was looking a sub. and said it looked OK.

At least mine is now on top of the bundle whenever the Sarge gets back and decides to have a look at them....

All they have to do in the local station is send it on to the county headquarters ( unless they know you are a headbanger) as far as I know.

I took it as a sign that they couldn't be arsed doing it when the Boss was away.

No referee listed on a substitution form, do they have yo go back to the previous renewal form and check your referee there?

Why would a referee's opinion of you change is 18 months?

How long generally after you meet the superintendent does the letter take to arrive and do you have to have your license to collect ammo and gun or can you use the letter, assuming it’s granted.

    Pistol Licence received today.

Applied for 1000 rounds - Approved.

    Applied for Moderator - Approved.

    Wasn’t expecting that.

Every dealer is different but generally I’ve been able to pick up ammo and the firearm using the grant letter with the receipt showing proof of payment attached.

Hoping I get my 1000 rounds and moderator also.

I just said to reduce noise at the source and it’s impact on surrounding shooters and land owners adjoining the range.

    Chanced my arm 😁

Got my firearms approval today, it mentions the rifle only and nothing else. It says been successful subject to the following conditions and it’s blank after that.

Does the moderator and number of bullets come on the license?

That's normal. There should be an S on the cert when you get it on the front and the ammo allowance on the back of it.

    Perfectly normal.

S and ammo numbers on physical licence.

Firearm application put in yesterday 3rd July, never had one take under 3 months but I'll remain hopeful and update here when received.
