Foreign Exchange Dollars to Euro no bank account

Hi folks, bit of advice here please.

Holiday makers arrived with US dollars cash, no bank will exchange without an account.

Where can they exchange ?

There are independent bureaux de change. They will insist on ID for more than a nominal amount.

Can you change it for them via your account? Your bank may ask you questions.

Its actually a bit more complicated, actually they are Filipino workers and they are getting paid using an app called Money Jar, its a bit like Revolut so they have no bricks and mortar bank in reality. They brought US dollars with them to keep them going till payday.

They are also based in and around the Dungarvan and Kinsale area so any options would be appreciated to exchange the cash

"Holiday makers" to "workers" - that sounds like a money laundering issue. No wonder the banks won't help.

If they are working long in Ireland, can they get Irish bank accounts? A reference from their employer to the bank might move things along more quickly, especially if it is the employer's bank.

Be honest I called them holiday makers as I was expecting a raft of responses calling to ensure they were not exploited so I thought this would be an easier alternative.

Ah they only landed over the weekend, So I guess thee only option is to open a physical account?

They'll probably get royally ripped off but they could try the Bureau du Change in the airport. I'm sure they get arriving American tourists looking to buy Euros for Dollars.

If they get a bus to T2, the place is right inside, on the ground floor beside the lifts.

There's a bureau de change on Grand Parade in Cork and on shandon street $1.108 per euro. Not too bad

As citizens of a third state they will need to show correct resident documentation in order to open an account and you can expect the banks will want to know a bit more about where the cash came from as well in order to satisfy MLA requirements. A bunch of foreigners turning opening accounts and then immediately wanting to convert dollars with raise red flags.

Only see that now. Could have been mentioned up front, instead of at the end of OP's second post. As you suggest, they will probably need to visit a BDC in Cork city.
