    Money related

The building society no longer opened on a bh Saturday.

I had to love on bread and water literally. I found a 20 euro note too that helped.

    Twice happened me.

    Lesson learned.

None of the above. Biggest inconvenience is no Postal or Parcel deliveries on Monday and I'm waiting for a load of stuff that would normally come on a Monday if it was a normal working day.

Wake me up when it's all over.

I have Amazon Prime and get deliveries on Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays.

    None of the above.

Our bins are collected on Mondays.

On bank holidays, the collection is sometimes taken on the Saturday before. A real pain if you forget and the bin is full.

I have Prime and don't get deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays to far away from Dublin so most comes with An Post.

At least Screwfix is open if I need anything.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Should have included Health Related in your Poll.

I remember one year on Good Friday my face swelled up with an abcess and I couldn't get a dentist for love nor money. It was a very long weekend.

  • One of the above. I’m retired and generally dislike Bank Holidays as they mean a number of little inconveniences and convey no advantage whatsoever to me. If I book holidays it’s always more expensive, services aren’t open on the Monday, crowds travel on these days, more road accidents, can’t as easily get a seat in a cafe, no postal delivery on Monday, normal broadcasting service stops on the Monday… I could go on. The advantages are to working people, but even when I worked I would rather have got more annual leave on days of my choosing than Bank holidays off tbh.

I just had a quick snoop on "the other site" OP, are you just starting threads here so you can disparage Boards users over there?

That's beyond pathetic, how would you feel if there was a thread here where you were mocked for doing that?

Odd “behaviour” starting a thread on here then laughing at those that reply over there.

From what I hear about that anti-boards hate site it’s, hardly, surprising though. Joyless mockery and personal “attacks” on the mods, and admins, of this site are the norm.

You’d think they just be happy staying over there, in their own space, where they can say what they like about immigrants, trans people and ordinary, decent, boards users without having to face any “repercussions”.

It used to be the crap service by the public service on Mondays because it woukd be the same as a Sunday service but the new bus service is much better at that then it was I used to go to Vue a lot on Mondats as Monday was tgere cheap day so I used to dread BH weekends but not anymore thankfully.

So at the moment for me nothing really. A bh weekend is just like any other weekend. All good to me :)

    Where is "over there"?

(eta) Never mind. I found it. Would you be bothered.

There’s another forum populated by former posters of this site, which has a similar wide range of discussions and debates going on.

One big difference is that they have a prominent thread on there for slagging off boards.ie users, past and present. A few brave “have-a-go” merchants from there have even sent me threatening PMs on boards trying to intimidate me into silence.

I don’t want to give them the oxygen of publicity, honestly some of them creep me out. Tonight one poster there said that I should be “lined up, shot, and covered with lime and dirt.” The owner of the site seems nice enough though.

I just hope that the veneer of anonymity that I have been hiding behind here is enough to keep any lunatics from paying me a personal visit.

I will be devastated if I'm not mentioned over there.
