Note: I have also posted in the banking forum as I wondered if anyone knew the procedure.

I returned a faulty item to Amazon & they agreed a refund. But, despite me telling them not to, they sent the refund to my now defunct 3 Money Card. Amazon say there's noting they can do. How can I get my money back ?

Its extremely difficult to get any seller to refund to anything but the card or payment type used at purchase. It's not really Amazon's concern. Contact the card company.

That would be the only other option. But that would be up to them.

But you will save yourself a lot of hassle by contacting 3money first and get it from them what happens. Then you are no longer guessing

I'd imagine it might be to reduce fraud, enabling refunds to any random card other then the original payment card would be open to a stupid amount of abuse and fraud.

General CS aren't going to tell you that, doing so is only going to lead to a customer getting into some silly debate with them.

Instead its easier to just say they can't change a refund to a different card and the option is refund to the original or you can get a gift card,

Their system is likely automated to refund to the original card, even if they offered to give it to you on a gift card. That would be another step in their refund process that was obviously missed. As above, I'd get onto 3 money and see where you get.

They want a whole pile of info including photo id. I am beginning to think that, where a warranty might be involved, it might be best to buy a gift card & then use that for the purchase.

They want standard ID information. I'm assuming the value is over €50.

EU anti money laundering rules are probably coming into play as you can only have a €50 undocumented gift card purchase online. Just pass the info to them and get the refund.
