F&E. Tank near boiling

    Hi folks

    My f&E tank in atic is extremely hot its heating up from the feed pipe

    I have stove with back boiler and oil heating

    Had Plumber look at it but can't figure it out hoping to find a brain box here

    I don't know if any of you are interested, but the correct nomenclature is, the one at the bottom is the expansion pipe (or feed and expansion pipe) and the one hooking in over the top is the vent.

    In normal operation the expanding water expands up both pipes, but because the vent is higher, it should never come out of the vent. It should just expand into the tank and rise the water level there and the level falls again after it cools.

    Might save some confusion when describing such situations in future.
