This is a hypothetical scenario. I was listening to a radio podcast yesterday and noticed an 'infamous' unemployed caller. He makes many controversial statements.

In the event that he were to get a job and his employer were to come across these YouTube videos of him, could he be fired on the basis of his beliefs?

*Way* too little information. What's their contract say, how long have they been employed, what's the impact to the employer, what's their employee terms, have they been requested to stop, have they entered their disciplinary process?

You can be fired for anything. However, the law protects employment under certain circumstances.

Nature of employment, nature of comments and how recent the comments are would be important.

If they think everyone over the age of 65 should be euthanised, then it's going to be difficult to keep a job in a nursing home.

They wouldn't necessarily be fired for their beliefs, but for what they said, which can be different.

Many employment contracts will control things outside the workplace, where they bring the workplace into disrepute.
